Re: Inconsistency with reviews that might need correction list.

I just take his reviews on a case by case basis. It often reflects his changing tastes or desensitisation to certain tropes. If the Critic cross referenced all his reviews you would lose that 'time capsule' effect a long running review site has.

Re: What does a video game generation mean to you ?

Since the topic is 'video game generations' and not consoles, it opens it up. Wikipedia includes portables with consoles, but little else. Also, like an evolutionary tree, there are side branches. You truly are an asset to the forums Scotland. Lots of your posts get me thinking and provoke a respon...

Re: Hard Games to Review

Shadow Dancer (Master System) - in a lot of ways it's an awful, rushed port which is missing loads of content. So it should get a really low score, but despite the green skinned enemies, brutal difficulty and short length it still has that Classic Shinobi gameplay. I know it's bad but I have so much...

What does a video game generation mean to you ?

I've just read an interesting (old) debate on Atari Age about the classification of console generations. So here's my thoughts on what identifies a console to a generation. 1st Gen: Non micro processor or dedicated systems and pre ROM carts. 2nd Gen: This generation seems to cause the most debate. C...

Slide Away - Oasis (Definitely Maybe)

That was a great song to close a marvellous debut album.

Re: Book Review: Sinclair ZX Spectrum

Good to see the Critic branching out from just NA systems Speccy books, SG-1000 game reviews, etc. This seems a book I may look into purchasing. Out of interest does it just cover the 48k Speccy era or does it also cover the 128k era ? It's an interesting evolution because the system had such a long...

Re: New System: Sega SG-1000

Okay so I need a new section for SG-1000, but I should group the Mark III games in with my Sega Master System section as import? That's a little confusing since the Japanese imports won't even hit into an American system. It's no different to Famicom/NES carts as long as you state in your review it...

Re: Poll - Which generation is the oldest you still play?

Just a question for clarification, but if I will occasionally play a 2600 game on my 7800, would that qualify as gen 2 or gen 3 on this poll? Don't want to presume Scotland's response, but I would class that as gen 2 as it's a gen 2 game your playing, likewise if your playing PS1 games on a PS2 or ...

Re: Poll - Which generation is the oldest you still play?

I still play gen 1 stuff but more out of curiosity than 'fun'.
For me the fun starts in generation 2.

I do now try to diversify my gaming. I tend to play a game from each generation in rotation.

Re: Amiibo Icon?

Hmm to me they are a form of DLC and micro-transactions in disguise.

Personally I wouldn't find an icon useful but if a lot of your readers are Amiibo fans/addicts might be a good idea.
