Re: 2015/12/26: Philips CD-i: Caesars World of Gambling, Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia

Thanks for those recommendations. I want to review more games for the CD-i but I never know what's out there! Now I have a few titles to track down. I did buy Clue recently. You're very welcome! There's an almost-complete list of CD-i games here: We count a total of 133 released CD-i games As you c...

Re: 2015/12/26: Philips CD-i: Caesars World of Gambling, Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia

CD-i reviews! Always glad to see those, even if the titles are a bit, er, unexpected. :) Hope to see more in the coming months. I've never played a CD-I and to be frank looking at it's library that's probably not a bad thing. You must be really scraping the barrel to wind up reviewing an encyclopaed...

Re: Toxic Genesis Games to Avoid

The only Genesis game that I ever played that I didn't beat or just had no desire to beat was this game called Fatal Rewind. [...] Fortunately, to the best of my knowledge no one else has ever played this toxic heap of a game). I've played it a fair bit, especially the Japanese version (The Killing...

Re: 2015/12/6: Genesis: Dino Land, Fatal Labyrinth

Nice Fatal Labyrinth review from Scotland! It's good to see a sympathetic treatment of that too-often maligned game. One caveat, though: Fatal Labyrinth actually lets you continue if you get killed. It may throw you back a few levels, but it's not too bad. The review implies the game has permadeath,...

Re: 2015/11/5: Atari 2600: Bridge, Xevious (Fixed)

Atari 2600 reviews, nice! I'd never have expected to see a Bridge review, but if you're looking to complete your Activision review set for the VCS, that makes sense. I think Kung Fu Master is the only one left for VCS? I've been meaning for ages to learn how to play bridge and backgammon. Someone ta...

Re: 2015/11/1: Sega CD: 3 Ninjas Kick Back, Flink

Wow, I certainly wouldn't have guessed that 3 Ninjas Kick Back would get the C+ and Flink the F. I know some people really detest Flink, so I guess the VGC is one of them. I haven't played it much, but I have played 3NKB a bit and didn't have much luck with it. Very glad to see more Sega CD reviews ...

Re: 2015/9/12: Genesis: California Games, Last Action Hero, Ecco Jr.

Can't argue with the Last Action Hero review per se, but it sounds like you didn't get past the first area. I was hoping you'd make it further into the game, as there's more to talk about: a dreadful side-scrolling driving level that's almost unplayable until you know a couple key tricks, an awful b...

Re: Whats the best Phillips CD-I system version?

I have the LG GDI-700M model, and so far it's been great. Among other things it has a PAL/NTSC switch, a built-in DVI card, and a user-replaceable battery.

Re: 2015/9/4: Odyssey 2: Volleyball, Traffic

I DO have the Odyssey 2 multicart, so I will give Loony Balloon a try next time. Awesome. IMHO, it's one of the best games on the Odyssey², or at least one of the most creative. A couple things you should know going into it: one, you have to score above a certain number of points before the game wi...
