Re: X-Kaliber 2097 on Retron 5

Sorry for the double post -- can't edit my previous post -- but another possible candidate for trouble is Donkey Kong Country 3. How does that one do on the Retron 5?

Re: X-Kaliber 2097 on Retron 5

I found a list suggesting that a few games may not play nice with a system whose lockout chip is disabled or out-of-spec. Could you try Killer Instinct, Maximum Carnage, and/or Rise of the Robots and see if they work?

Re: Dragster record being questioned

Rogers is officially credited with a score of 65,000,000 points on Centipede for Atari 5200; the second-place score is 58,078." See, now that I could attribute to sloppy record-keeping if his real high score was 65K, since it's easy to imagine how an extra three digits could get added by someo...

Re: Youtubers and The Price of Video Games

Honestly, I put a lot of the blame for the video game pricing bubble on Ebay. It used to be that when you listed an item, it cost you a little bit of money, and the final price reflected people's bids. Then they added Buy It Now, but at least if someone listed a BIN for an exorbitant price, the sell...

Re: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (32X)

I have a friend who's a big fan of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, and from what he tells me, the Sega CD version of Pitfall is the best by a good margin -- so I'd be sure to throw that in the mix. I think he ranks them something like this: Sega CD > Genesis > Jaguar > 32X > SNES However that ordering...

Re: 2017/7/5: Genesis: Air Diver, High Seas Havoc

I've owned Air Diver for close to a decade now but haven't really played it. I do have a weakness for polygonal flight sims like LHX Attack Chopper and VR Stalker (the latter on the 3DO), and I quite like sprite-scaling games too, but before the 32-bit era home consoles really struggled with both.

Re: Have you ever bought a reproduction?

I've bought a few SNES repros that require enhancement chips and can't otherwise be played on my Super EverDrive, e.g. StarFox 2 and Star Ocean. I also have one repro cart for the Atari 7800, a bug-fixed version of the otherwise-unwinnable Impossible Mission. I've also bought tons of CIB releases of...

Re: Daffy Duck in Hollywood (SMS)

It seems like most Looney Tunes platformers from that era are terrible. Sylvester & Tweety is at least playable, but most of the rest, yuck.
