Re: Nokia N-Gage/Tapwave Zodiacs it the Sega 32X/3DO/Atari Jaguar of portable gaming?

3. Even though the N-Gage and Zodiacs handhelds where more powerful, they where all more difficult to program for then the GBA/DS/PSP which where much easier to program for/had better optimized hardware. The same thing was for the 32X/3DO/Jaguar compared to the SNES/Genesis/PS1/N64, etc. That's not...

Re: Guide to Removing Smoke Smell

Unfortunately, for some of us the odor of dryer sheets is much more offensive than smoke smell, because the perfumes used in those sheets can trigger migraines, itchy rashes, or other illness. It's probably not likely to happen with a manual since I don't wear it or bathe with it, but fabric softene...

Re: Aladdin Deck Enhancer (NES)

Actually I reviewed both Dizzy games, not realizing I had already reviewed one of them. I'll probably meld the old and new versions together. Ah, got it! Well, it might be fun to include information about the differences between the two releases of Dizzy the Adventurer if you're up for it, as they'...

Re: Aladdin Deck Enhancer (NES)

So it looks like you've already reviewed most of them, basically speaking...? To elaborate on this: Bignose Freaks Out - already reviewed (review itself seems to suggest it's the Deck Enhancer version) Dizzy the Adventurer - already reviewed (Deck Enhancer version) Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy - n...

Re: Aladdin Deck Enhancer (NES)

Based on this page , it sounds like the Deck Enhancer games are essentially identical to their standalone cart releases, except for Dizzy which has faster character movement and more stars to collect, plus the 10-inning bug in the Quattro Sports baseball game. So it looks like you've already review...

Re: Most addictive games (Arcade)

- Galaga - Mad Planets - Hunchback (still can't finish the last 2 screens!) - Jr Pacman - Robotron 2084 - Gaplus This is a good list. I can co-sign Galaga, Mad Planets (great, underrated game), and Robotron. I've also chased high scores in I, Robot, Major Havoc, Tempest, and Timber, and worked hard...

Re: Tomcat Alley-Sega Cd

I beat Tomcat Alley a few years back on all difficulty levels. I thought it was fun enough, as evidenced by the fact that I saw it through to the end (which I haven't done with e.g. Midnight Raiders). I remember one or two frustrating missions with little margin for error, but not as bad as some of ...

Re: 2017/7/30: Intellivision: Congo Bongo

Hooray, an Intellivision review! I haven't played Congo Bongo in a while but my impression was similar to yours: graphically it's sort of impressive, but the gameplay is brutally unforgiving. The No Swear Gamer on YouTube did a recent set of Congo Bongo reviews that ended up on much the same page. G...

Re: Why do people like RPGs?

Well, I definitely agree with Sturgeon's Law, i.e. that 90+% of all media is basically garbage. And I certainly am no friend to contemporary mainstream media, which is generally an embarrassing wasteland. It's astonishing how much the quality of the writing in TV and film has deterioriated in the la...

Re: Why do people like RPGs?

Most RPGs don't have a compelling plot or characters, so if you go into RPGs expecting a gripping story with three-dimensional inhabitants I think you'll be grossly disappointed. (I certainly would be, with very rare exceptions.) Some people claim otherwise, but compare a good book or movie to even ...
