Re: I Like Short Games

I'm a real life dad, and my issue is that I have other hobbies that also fill up my down time--music, biking, swimming, reading, movies, etc. Video games used to be #1, but as I get older, it slides down the list. Same with the $$ part--with kids, mortgage, I just don't have tons of cash to sink in...

You are not alone on this site, my friend. Many of us have probably put video gaming ...

Re: I Like Short Games

Perhaps I know how to manage my time better. Think of all the other lengthy behaviors people engage in, such as time online, time staring at their phones, time binge-watching TV shows. Sorry if you feel shamed, and the idea people "should stop feeling guilty about gaming" is one I can get...

Re: Local Game Stores

To give a little more detail to my original post, I want to point out that I don't think independent game store or game stores generally won't change. However, I think if anyone will adapt to the online world, it is more independent or smaller or more specialty stores in the end. There's an example ...

Re: I Like Short Games

My theory on why most games run excessively long?: Blame the game critics. Developers know how vital their Metacritic aggregate score is to the sales and financial success of their game. Get a 90+ and you're almost assured to have tons of sales. However, you are absolutely taking a hit on your scor...

Re: I Like Short Games

I'm in this boat too. Last night I started some cheap looking game I got with PS+ called "Blood Knights" or something. It looks like an iPad game. The reason I started it was that it looked like something I could finish in a few hours. I don't have the time to finish even a 15 hour game an...

Re: Local Game Stores

What a great read. Thanks for sharing this. It's very well researched and written and shares a lot of the "behind-the-scenes" info about independent game stores that I've always wondered. Pretty impressive journalism when the guy interviewed 15+ stores for the story, and even got a few st...

Re: Local Game Stores

Well, the local one here is incredible. It's run by a guy with Autism who loves and collects games himself. He carries everything from boxed Famicom games to replacement cords for the 32X to all the At Games and Retron lines (perephrials included). Like everything else about my hometown, it punches ...

Re: Atari Box?

I'm interested because it is new technology with the Atari logo on it, so I may have to get one. Importantly for me, I really like the look of it. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but to me it honestly looks like what you'd get if you took Atari designers from the 70s and 80s in a time machine, ...

Re: Happy 150th Canada

Thanks Scotland! My family always tries to make a big deal of Canada day, and this year we're camping with a bunch of other families and doing a bunch of fireworks. Here in Newfoundland, we only start celebrating in the afternoon, as the morning is for Beaumont-Hamel memorials. (Note: My Father was ...
