Re: 200 Greatest Games Of The '90s- By The VGC Community

Silent Hill - Konami (January 31st, 1999) 52771-Silent_Hill-web.jpg Silent Hill is a game that turned hardware limitations into a style. Hiding the game's poor draw distance behind a thick veil of fog, then compensating the player by supplying them with a mysterious radio that emits static at an inc...

9. Battletoads, Rare, June 1991 54899-Battletoads_(USA)--web.jpg There are plenty of reasons not to include Battletoads on this list: as an IP it's a shameless rip-off of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; it has an unforgiving level of difficulty (how many people have even gotten past the third leve...

Re: PS4 Arcade Sticks?

Lab Zero (the developer for Skullgirls) created a driver that will allow PS3 fightsticks to be used on fighting games on the PS4. NetherRealm Studios licensed that driver, so at least some PS3 fightsticks will work for the PS4 version of Mortal Kombat X. If you already have one (even if it's not one...

Re: Bad Parts in Good Games

Near the end of Hotline Miami - a game which, up until then, had been the epitome of heart-pounding, adrenaline-soaked action - your character wakes up after a hallucination to find himself in a hospital bed. You then attempt to escape in a forced-stealth section where your helpless character moves ...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

I think the "kitty kitty" noise that the girl makes has to be one of the most iconic noises ever. I have no idea what she is actually saying but that is the way I've always heard it. Also, her weapon of choice is quite disturbing (and unique). Here's the explanation I found for the "...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

Outside of Japanese horror films, some other good import horror films from other countries would be the host, the orphanage, Julia's eyes, a girl walks home alone at night. Has anyone seen those? I might split the thread into different horror genres if people agree with Scotland. The Host was a gre...

Re: "It's terrible but I like it anyway" games

Friday the 13th and Jaws are interesting choices, my friend. Two games based on movie properties with many sequels, and are early survival horror movies. The original movie Jaws and Friday the 13th each build suspense, and have gory payoff scenes.Very different movies of course, as Jaws is not a te...

Re: "It's terrible but I like it anyway" games

I still really like both Friday the 13th and Jaws for the NES. Both of them (especially Friday the 13th) feel like proto survival horror, since both games give you a monster that disappears and reappears and targets you or the people you are trying to protect. Both games also have a nice arc to them...

Re: RBI Baseball (PS4) download only

I saw a commercial for a new RBI Baseball game on television, and I thought I might want to give it a try. It looked a little low-budget, but frankly the old RBI games (circa 1992) looked that way too! Sadly, it's just a download code for $20. Would it have killed them to slap in on a disc? Now I'm...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

The last few days I've been listening to an album called Guilty of Everything by a band called Nothing. A friend I know at work put it on his list of 25 favorite albums and urged me to check it out. It's one of the those records that I'll hear every once in a while that actually feels like it has ad...
