Re: Rodea: The Sky Soldier

I've been having extremely mixed feelings about this game. After playing a couple levels of the Wii U version, I decided to try the Wii version, which does indeed have better controls overall, but this game has a laundry list of flaws in general. -The camera is a pain in the ass on both versions. Tu...

Re: 2015/11/11: Playstation 4: Bloodborne, Shovel Knight

One important thing about the other versions of Shovel Knight: the last sentence of the review mentions the Wii U and 3DS versions, but it's also for Xbox One and Vita (as well as Steam and Amazon Fire TV, but those might not be as relevant to note).

Rodea: The Sky Soldier

This game by Yuji Naka of Sonic fame has become somewhat infamous for being in development hell for several years. It was in development for the original Wii, and interestingly enough, this version of the game is actually a bonus disc included with the Wii U version if you preorder it. There's also ...

If I recall correctly, to defeat the boss you shoot a bomb into its core, but because the boss isn't a stationary target, you have to aim the bomb a little higher on the screen than the core actually is.

Re: Shmups vs Bullet Hell shooters.

Bullet hell is a subgenre of shmups that throw an insane amount of projectiles at the player at once.

This is a good example: http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/i ... ee_you.jpg

A lot of modern shmups blur the line between the traditional variety and bullet hell, however.

Re: Shmups vs Bullet Hell shooters.

I find bullet hell shooters fun mainly because it feels satisfying to dodge thousands of projectiles at a time, but I play all sorts of highly acclaimed shmups in general. I should note that I think Ikaruga actually suffers in the last two stages because they feel downright impossible as opposed to ...

Re: Tiger Handhelds

The Angry Video Game Nerd has a great video on these things. The main reason they got so much hate is because they were outdated the instant handhelds like the Game Boy came out, and very few of them were legitimately enjoyable to begin with. Unlike Nintendo's Game & Watch games, which petered o...

Re: Yoshi's Wooly World (Wii U)

It sounds like you're referring to Miiverse posts, which are in several games but I'm sure can be disabled. From what I played of the GameStop demo, it looked like another platforming winner, but online review sites have been giving it shockingly average scores for what seems like such a fun and cre...

Re: Review Crew Status?

Would I have to regularly post RPG reviews if I were to join the Review Crew? Right now I'm playing through Sweet Home, an RPG for the Famicom (though I imagine posting it as an NES review would be fine as long as I pointed out it was Japan-exclusive). I don't normally play RPGs, but this game appea...

Re: Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)

What frustrating parts are you referring to? There were several parts that seemed overly obtuse to figure out or unsuited to the game's controls. One part in particular that frustrated me to no end was when I had to walk up a very long series of stairs while continuously getting swarmed by enemies ...
