Re: Your thoughts on Virtual Reality

Since the gaming industry is obsessed with making games more and more immersive, I wouldn't be surprised if VR finally catches on this time. I played an Oculus Rift game called Dreadhalls a long time ago, and it was surprisingly effective at being both scary and enjoyable. Hopefully most developers ...

Project M has ceased development

I don't know how many people here are familiar with Project M. Long story short, it's an extensive mod of Super Smash Bros. Brawl which retools the gameplay to more closely resemble SSB Melee, as well as adding a couple new characters and many new stages. It's been very popular in the competitive Sm...

Anyone else having major issues with Titanfall: Deluxe Edition?

The other day I bought the downloadable version of Titanfall: Deluxe Edition for Xbox 360 because it was only $5 as part of an early Black Friday sale and I've always been interested in trying it out. I don't know how many other people have been having these problems or if anyone who visits this sit...

Re: Rodea: The Sky Soldier

Addendum: Turns out I goofed and missed a spot where you get a powerup that allows you to zip along those dash panels, so that's my mistake and not the game's. My other issues with it still stand, but at least I can make more progress on it now.

Re: Rodea: The Sky Soldier

I've been having extremely mixed feelings about this game. After playing a couple levels of the Wii U version, I decided to try the Wii version, which does indeed have better controls overall, but this game has a laundry list of flaws in general. -The camera is a pain in the ass on both versions. Tu...

Re: 2015/11/11: Playstation 4: Bloodborne, Shovel Knight

One important thing about the other versions of Shovel Knight: the last sentence of the review mentions the Wii U and 3DS versions, but it's also for Xbox One and Vita (as well as Steam and Amazon Fire TV, but those might not be as relevant to note).

Rodea: The Sky Soldier

This game by Yuji Naka of Sonic fame has become somewhat infamous for being in development hell for several years. It was in development for the original Wii, and interestingly enough, this version of the game is actually a bonus disc included with the Wii U version if you preorder it. There's also ...

Re: 2015/11/5: Atari 2600: Bridge, Xevious (Fixed)

If I recall correctly, to defeat the boss you shoot a bomb into its core, but because the boss isn't a stationary target, you have to aim the bomb a little higher on the screen than the core actually is.

Re: Shmups vs Bullet Hell shooters.

Bullet hell is a subgenre of shmups that throw an insane amount of projectiles at the player at once.

This is a good example: http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/i ... ee_you.jpg

A lot of modern shmups blur the line between the traditional variety and bullet hell, however.

Re: Shmups vs Bullet Hell shooters.

I find bullet hell shooters fun mainly because it feels satisfying to dodge thousands of projectiles at a time, but I play all sorts of highly acclaimed shmups in general. I should note that I think Ikaruga actually suffers in the last two stages because they feel downright impossible as opposed to ...
