Re: VGC on TV Tropes

TV Tropes is one of the most addictive sites ever devised. If you go to it and look up your favorite movie/TV show/book/whatever, good luck pulling yourself away from it.

Re: 2017/8/10: Nintendo Switch: Arms

Though I prefer Splatoon 2 (aka Spla2n) as far as first party Switch exclusives are concerned, I will give ARMS credit for working surprisingly well with motion controls and even managing to be a bit of a workout if you play it long enough. I also like how creatively crazy it is in comparison to mos...

Re: RetroEngine Sigma

Looking at the comments on the Indiegogo page for this, it appears to be riddled with numerous baffling firmware and software issues. I was on the verge of preordering one myself, but it appears to be a classic case of "too good to be true." Installing homebrew software on an original Wii ...

Re: Favorite Sonic The Hedgehog Soundtrack?

Sonic 1's soundtrack is pretty much perfect. Green Hill Zone is the tune from that game everybody remembers, but the rest are brilliant as well. Labyrinth Zone in particular is deceptively infectious.

Namco Museum (Switch)

This Switch-exclusive collection is...a mixed bag. First off, here are the games included, in order of release: -Pac-Man -Galaga -Dig Dug -Tower of Druaga -Sky Kid -Rolling Thunder -Galaga '88 -Splatterhouse -Tank Force (a game I never even heard of prior to playing this collection) -Rolling Thunder...

Re: Splatoon 2 (okay, so I caved)

My question is, can you enjoy the game offline? I forced myself to play the first one online for the sake of the review, and it was fine, but I'd prefer to have the option to play solo or local with friends. It's the same deal as in the first game: you need to be online to play multiplayer, but the...

Re: 2017/7/28: Playstation 3: Strider Hiryu (Japan)

For the record, this was also released in the US and simply called Strider.

I remember playing an hour or two into it a long time ago, but I should probably revisit it.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) and Conker: Live and Reloaded (Xbox)

IGN gave Bad Fur Day a 9.9/10 back in 2001, and to this day, I have no idea why. The fact that its gameplay changes up a lot is a somewhat interesting idea, but it's handled rather clumsily and none of the gameplay segments seem quite as fun as it should be. It simply hasn't aged well. However, I'll...

Re: Cutscenes?

Cutscenes work if they're fairly brief and don't make you wish you were playing the game instead of looking at it. Starting a video game with a lengthy cutscene is a major no-no for me. Another pet peeve I have in regards to cutscenes is when games won't let you pause them, especially if they're par...

Re: Youtubers and The Price of Video Games

For instance, let's say AVGN does a Sega 32x special (maybe he has, I don't know). Interest peaks, and prices go up. Many of us have a 32x system and some games we acquired over the years to play ourselves - but now we jump on the wave and sell high knowing we can buy it again next year for far far...
