Re: A question for those of you who successfully camped out for an NES Classic

My local Best Buy got 7 in. I got there an hour before they opened and there were 8 people in line. I think the earliest one person got there was 6:00am. Nobody camped overnight. Of course, there ended up being about 40 people waiting by the time they opened. They handled it well (only allowed one c...

Re: New Music Thread

Update: checked out those bands. Fleet Foxes isn't for me but Hoops was interesting. I'm going to listen to a few more tracks (I liked "on top"). It's interesting how those sounds are making a comeback. I picked up an album by Future Islands last year, and they have an 80s synth pop thing ...

Re: New Music Thread

Good timing. I need some new music in my life. Burnt out on classic rock, and well, really rock and blues in general. Here's my contribution: Sufjan Stevens, Age of Adz--typically a folk/acoustic guy, he went full nutzo on this album with the production. It's chaotic, but I love it. Toe, Long Tomorr...

Re: Should nintendo drop the gimmicks?

Sometimes I wonder if we are so confused by Nintendo because they are a Japanese company and have a different mindset than their American customers. I think their desire to innovate is both inspiring and frustrating. For example, I think the mobile possibilities of the Switch are fantastic and truly...

Re: Review Wish List

Just a couple: Battle Kid 2, NES--a homebrew NES title that was actually the last game released. Like mega man but faster and harder, but still fair, like other NES classics. Part 1 is good, but part 2 is more refined. Most of all, it's gets my vote for best tunes on the NES. Seriously. Here's a lin...

Re: What are the most overrated and underrated consoles???

Agree on both counts. I feel that the PlayStation went with quantity over quality, and the load times alone are enough to give the edge to the 64 for that battle. Regarding the Wii U, when I look over the games, it's actually a system I could easily pick up and grab a dozen games for (which is very ...

Re: SNES Classic Announced

Because SF2 has waaayyyyy more universal appeal than KI. For me, like many other gamers, it was the introduction to fighting games.

Re: The Decline of Electric Guitars

As someone who has played guitar and bass for over twenty years, I just consider them tools for producing sound. Don't get me wrong - I love the sound of a guitar, especially a distorted or delayed guitar - but I'm fine with the guitar having a less prominent role in music. I don't particularly car...

Re: What are the most overrated and underrated consoles???

Regarding the 64--it's so highly regarded because it was the first "party" system. Goldeneye, Mario Kart, and smash bros with 4 players elevated gaming among friends. Through in some all time great games like Mario 64 and Ocarina of time and you have a system that had a small library, but ...
