Re: 2015/11/5: Atari 2600: Bridge, Xevious (Fixed)

Aside from Activision refusing to teach you the basics, what else was wrong with the game to warrant knocking it down to a C level? The rest of your review made it sound like a hidden gem. Looking forward to the Kung Fu Master review to finish off the Activision titles - it's a punishing game that ...

But I thought that gamers were all teenage boys and immature men.

Yes.

The guy who can speed run "Ninja Gaiden III" with no pickups is my hero.

Re: Video game retailers you used to visit and the memories you have of them

BRE Software in Fresno, CA. was the used game store that I went to in the early 90's. They were very popular. They even put advertisements in magazines.

My dad would often rent me Genesis games from BRE for $1 on the way home from work. I got to try a lot of different games that way.

Re: Twinkle Tale - Sega Genesis

Haha, the Twinkle Tale footage immediately reminded me of Elemental Master and that was one of the recommended shooters.

But this looks even better than that game which I like a lot.

Re: It feels good finally beating the first two Ninja Gaidens on the NES.

Anybody play the NG Trilogy on SNES? How does it compare to the original? People usually complain about the music being worse than the original versions. There are a few minor changes for the worse. Like in NG2, there is a level that is very dark but that periodically illuminates so you can see wher...

Re: It feels good finally beating the first two Ninja Gaidens on the NES.

OMG, the Japanese "Ninja Gaiden III" is SO MUCH EASIER. I played it for the first time tonight and I finished it in a few hours. Mind you, I've never even made it past the third act in the American version. The inclusion of a password feature for a game this relatively easy is silly. I thi...

Re: Game Review Recommendations?

"Skyblazer" is a solid SNES platformer. It's short, not too difficult and has a password feature so you should have no trouble finishing it to review. I would be interested in your take on "Dracula X" for SNES. I haven't played it, but I'm a big fan of "Dracula X" for t...

Re: It feels good finally beating the first two Ninja Gaidens on the NES.

I tried the third game and the Critic is right that the difficulty really ramps up on the second stage. I might just take a break from NG for now. Since you are using emulation, you should try Ninja Ryuukenden III, which is the Famicom version of Ninja Gaiden III. It's quite a bit easier than the g...

Re: All the way through?

"Batman" for the NES. The rest of the game is like an easier Ninja Gaiden, but the Joker is a royal pain in the butt. Feels great when you finally beat him.
