Re: Survey (US) - Women own more game consoles than men

Apologies. There are some really bitter folks on Reddit who think talking about the wage gap is sexist against men. I thought you were one of them.

I really need to avoid Reddit.

Re: Survey (US) - Women own more game consoles than men

The wage gap is often misunderstood. Even by women's activists. Support fields where women dominate are frequently underfunded, such as social work and mental health support. There's frequently no financial reward for a good therapist who understands her clients, challenges/educates them effectively...

Re: Survey (US) - Women own more game consoles than men

Pretty sure if you care way too much about gender roles, you're probably not among the women included in this poll. All the women I hang out with are hardcore gamers, and the titles they're playing are everything from Left4Dead to Final Fantasy VII. By the way, more women are getting into computer s...

Re: Critic: Request For a Wario Land 4 Review (GBA)

I second this one. Not sure how the Critic will respond to the high pressure escapes, given his passionate hatred for Majora's, but this acid trip of a game really shows off what the GBA could do in the right hands.

Re: Tiger Handhelds

I still prefer Simon's Quest on LCD to the NES original. It's got a streamlined charm. Unlike most Tiger games, it knows what it's trying to do, and works with the format, instead of trying to fight it, or worse, simply giving up because kids will play anything. Unfortunately, I've never found anoth...

Re: Castlevania (Nintendo 64)

Maybe it's better I played the director's cut first. Hitting the enemies was almost as easy as Strider, and this was when I mostly played any game I bought on a PC with keyboard, to see them in high resolution, without taking a performance hit. (Majora's Mask was impossible. The keyboard was no subs...

Re: First Game Played in Classic Series

Castlevania: The Simon's Quest LCD Handheld from Tiger. Holy shit, it had special weapons, power-ups, and boss fights. It blew away Pitfall! (2600) Mario: Mario Bros, on the 7800. Graphics so clear and detailed, it beat live action. (Which was almost completely buried in snow, beyond NBC and the loc...

Re: 20th anniversary of Playstation

Did I just see the marshmallow brick polygons of the 32x and Jaguar win a graphics contest with Crash Bandicoot, Tekken 3, and FFIX? To each their own, I suppose. For me, the PSX was the first console to give you more to do than just beat a game. Once I experienced my first create-a-character, there...

Re: 2015/8/11: Nintendo 3DS: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

I've never finished, but I've come incredibly close, over and over again. It's my favorite game of all time, but I'm jinxed. Consoles have been stolen, games broken, memory cards not working... I think it's a game you need to completely lose yourself in, if you want to beat it without a FAQ. But the...

Re: 2015/8/11: Nintendo 3DS: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

There's the song of double time to speed the days into nights, and nights into days. There's no getting around the fact that this is a game that simulates living inside another world. If you want to explore a world that operates on a child's dream logic, this is a rare treasure. Most AAA games are m...
