Re: Games that justify the hardware purchase

Good topic. I bought a Vita just for Assassin's Creed: Liberation. How often do you get a sandbox game where the society they live in, is actually worse than the anti-hero you're playing as? It felt like a rush, to unleash Hell, in a way that GTA couldn't ever offer. But once I saw that intense OLED...

Re: 2017/2/21: NES: P.O.W., Astyanax

All I know is that kid me liked cartoons and kid me liked giant cel-shaded sprites. What are these bits you speak of? Sure, you wouldn't see half the characters when the giant cel-shaded sprites started flickering, and the enemy placement is best described as "a valiant attempt to turn the NES'...

Re: The Switch won't launch with a Virtual Console

The lack of Virtual Console software probably has as much to do with the sales of the NES Classic as anything else. Hardcore gamers will complain about paying too much for the same titles again, and pirates will just pirate away, but the nostalgic masses?

Re: Introducing the Nintendo Switch

The problem comparing the Switch to the Apple and Android ecosystems is that they're a lot like the Atari 2600 and British 8-bit microcomputer ecosystems - you have a low barrier of entry for content providers, so there's a lot of depressing toxic sludge to wade through. And I say that as a fan of t...

Re: NES games I need to review?

Based on your love of old school shmups, Gradius II, Gun Nac, and Crisis Force are a must. These are like the triple crown of the genre on the NES. I'd love to see what you think of Little Sampson, but it's going to be expensive - overlooked on release, this platformer pushes the NES hardware in eve...

Re: 2016/11/28: Playstation 4: Skullgirls 2nd Encore (Japan), Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet (Japan)

Sometimes, I think your reviews suffer when you're under pressure. You struggled to wrap your head around some of the bizarre moves in Skullgirls, so it's a bad game. You struggled with time management in Majora's Mask, so it's a bad game. You missed the way Slime World tracks damage, and I can't kn...

Re: Make A List Of Humorous Things You Think Have Happened To All Of Us

You know someone is wrong. On the internet. The information superhighway was taking you to your destination, and suddenly, here's this idiot who doesn't know how to drive. And he or she's shouting at everyone else, for not obeying the rules. Fortunately, you know better. And this isn't one of those ...

Re: Bad Games You Have to Play

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (GBA). It looks like a suicide note written by the 32x, as seen through Youtube's lowest resolution. And then played at half speed. And challenge? If you figure out where the shortcuts are, it's almost impossible to lose. Really, this is bad by every single measure except...

Re: Retro-Bit Generations Plug and Play?

This is a great option for those who like to listen to games without the audio, and who don't mind the input lag. The weird collection of random titles is a great way to remember the 90's, back when there were libraries of roms to try in Nesticle, ZNES, and Genecyst, and nobody to tell you which one...
