Re: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (32X)

A few differences: The 32x version has a foreground that moves at 30 frames per second, which will drive you mad if you can tell. The colors are muted, and less vibrant overall. The main character in the 32x version is shaded like a soft pillow, or a bad t-shirt design, which is great if you couldn'...

Re: Games that are so bad they're awesome?

I looked it up. Impossamole is considered the worst of the series, because it took the usual sadistic fun to the level of a troll. Your attacks are questionable, there are invincible enemies that look like ordinary enemies, and you only have one life. It has its defenders, but they seem like the sam...

http://gamingafter40.blogspot.com/2011/06/cover-to-cover-intellivision-spring_12.html Some of my favorite officially released games for the Intellivision were released post crash. They were never going to do the numbers of Nintendo, Sega, or Atari, but there was a lot of thought and care that went i...

Re: Games that are so bad they're awesome?

Defender on the 2600. The developer's first priority to porting the hardest game in the arcade was making the coolest possible laser he could. It fills the sky with color, and only the small cost of displaying your ship. And this idea was the approach he took to all the extra features one button cou...

Re: "Mostly Gone" Genres

New brick and paddle and maze games flood the downloadable markets. They just play well with the limited touch screen interfaces. But sprite scaling 3d? I never see it outside of Doom mods. Shame too - we finally have the ability to make games that would literally place you inside a hand drawn carto...

Re: Destiny 2 is 30 FPS regardless for the consoles WTH!

By the logic in this post, by 1985, the year Super Mario Bros was released, we should have had 16 bit graphics and sampled sound in consoles in order to compete with the Amiga. The NES was just a criminally underpowered children's toy, and every parent who didn't have $500+ to blow on videogames hat...

Re: I feel the GameCube is vastly overrated.

The Gamecube overrated? Since when? It's the 3rd most popular system of it's generation, which places it next to the Turbografx, Atari 7800, and Odyssey 2. And it destroys all of them. It benefits from being in the last generation where there wasn't a huge divide between AAA and mid-tier releases. A...

Tron: breasts alone are a PG-13. See: Titanic, Hackers, and Across the Universe. There are R rated movies that show full frontal. There isn't an X-rating anymore. The closest is NC-17, but most movies prefer to target the home market with an "Unrated Director's Cut". These days, NC-17 usua...

I found a newer build. Love the first background, and it looks like there's less lag. The sprites are still "good pirate hack" worthy. And I really hope that's not the final soundtrack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VCjCqmtTS0 "Sorry guys, but the lawyers say need to reskin 'Darkstalkers vs. Guilty Gear'." It looks like they also took inspiration from Takara's port of Samurai Shodown. Seems playable enough, thankfully, but you'd hope they could fit a little more into 3...
