Re: SNES Street Fighter 2

The irony is that those "games catering to five year olds" have aged better than most (if not all) of those Genesis sports games. I think "it has better sports games!" and "it has blood in Mortal Kombat!" were good arguments in the Genesis' favor vs the SNES at the time...

Re: SNES Street Fighter 2

Jon, your ignorance of RPGs notwithstanding, you're taking a single piece of the puzzle and saying it's the whole picture. Yes, Nintendo's exclusivity deal with Capcom on SF was a big help when the SNES was getting off the ground. But to say that's what made the SNES sell 10 million more units than ...

Re: ZombiU (without the U) possibly headed to PS4, Xbox One

@Hardcore Sadism - recent leaks and trademark rumors suggest the game will be called "Zombi." No need for the U, I guess. Excited for this as I still don't have a Wii U. And with rumors suggesting that NX may come as soon as next year, I may not get it until after the system is dead. If I ...

@Tron - Shovel Knight *is* on the Vita. I finished it a few months go.

Re: SNES Street Fighter 2

@jon - Nintendo signed an exclusivity deal with Capcom for Street Fighter 2. It's not "unfair;" it's a common practice. Capcom's workaround was to release updated versions of the game with different names to the Genesis and PC Engine. I figured Capcom had struck a similar deal with Sony on...

Re: I Doubt Shenmue III will ever see the light of day

@Banjo - Sony has CONFIRMED that they are funding the rest of Shenmue 3. They used Kickstarter to gauge interest. And since it's one of the most successful Kickstarter projects ever, I assume Sony is happy with the result. The Sony backing is why this won't come to the Xbox. Anyway, you're right to ...

I'm all for voicing your opinion on stuff, but I certainly hope the Critic doesn't take too many of these "issues" to heart. "I don't like the blue because I have to wear blue to work." Wow. That sounds like a you problem.

Re: A rant on Sony/Microsoft and Nintendo on not doing a good job keeping their so called 8th Gen exclusives to console!

This has a lot less to do with Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft not having faith in the games and developers (first or third party) wanting their game to reach and sell to as many people as possible. It's just a very different age in game development. In order to justify paying tens of millions of dollar...

Re: The Final Fantasy VII Remake Thread

SigSauerLover doesn't even seem to understand what a remaster is. A remaster would be The Last of Us or Tomb Raider on PS4, where developers "clean things up." They smooth out jaggies, sharpen resolution and double the frames per second. All the same assets, engine and code are used as a f...

Re: Gulf Between Arcades and Consoles

@jon - that you are *this* upset about the video games you liked 20 years not becoming popular... Doesn't that make you worry about yourself? The Super Nintendo was successful, had one of the deepest libraries and is one of the most influential systems ever created. It's been 25 years. Time to move ...
