Re: SNES 25th anniversary

I remember looking at pictures of launch window games in Nintendo Power: Super Mario World, Pilotwings, F-Zero, Zelda 3, Castlevania IV, Super R-Type. I couldn't believe the colors and graphics. It looked too good to be true. I made regular trips to ShopKo on my bike with friends or my older brother...

Re: The Best Console.

I'd say your pick for GOAT is a strong one. I love that system's library, the highlight being the JRPGs (Final Fantasy, Shadow Hearts, Xenosaga, Atelier Iris, Kingdom Hearts and the strongest lineup of Shin Megami Tensei games ever) and the "mascot" platformers/action games (Sly Cooper, Ja...

Re: Games everyone loves, but you don't see them as great.

As a JRPG nut, most people are surprised to learn that I dont like most Western RPGs. Especially Bethesda games. I've tried multiple times to enjoy my time with Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3, but nope. Get bored incredibly easy and end up casting the games aside. And the combat in the Elders Scroll...

Re: Best N64 games?

You've stated many of my own picks. Including my #1 on N64, Paper Mario. My other choices: Mario Kart 64 - I'll be the first to admit it hasn't aged well, but my high school years were rooted in MP matches. Majora's Mask - Easily the most unusual and risky 3D Zelda game. Doom 64 - Deliciously rooted...

Re: 6th Gen Love

The 6th generation was pretty unique in that we had FOUR home consoles that were worth owning. You may be one of the few that held a torch for something like the 3DO, but most gamers would agree that there were mostly 3 front runners in previous generations. The Dreamcast launched at a half way poin...

Yes. I have seen the videos. Rich from ReviewtechUSA is not an industry insider, a tech analyst not a game developer. He's a guy who shares his opinions about video games on YouTube. Nothing more, nothing less. If he's suggesting that downports of games created for PS4/X1/PC released on PS3/360 and ...

Sonicx9, You've created a thread exactly like this one a while ago. I (among others) tried to educate you on the development process. You seem to have forgotten, so I will repeat myself. You seem to have this false notion that developers are creating the game simultaneously for 6 different systems. ...

Re: What systems do you have hooked up and ready to go?

I have a PS3, PS4 and Wii U hooked up on the main floor. I play most of my modern games here. But my favorite place to play is the loft/man cave. I have a 32 inch Philips HDTV with a second PS4 and 360 hooked up. I have a LaCie Electron 22 Blue IV 22" CRT computer monitor with a Dreamcast hooke...

Those gators should have known they'd get stuck in the tar pit. What a graphic 8-bit death!

Re: What happened to 2d

There's like a half dozen 2d Contra games released since the 16 bit era. Shattered Soldier (PS2), Neo Contra (PS2)-- isometric, but still 2d-- Contra 4 (DS), Contra ReBirth (WiiWare). Hard Corps Uprising is a sequel (of sorts) to the Genesis game, has excellent hand drawn sprites from Arc System Wor...
