Re: 2017/9/14: Playstation 4: Madden NFL 18

Be fair. That's at least early PS2 quality. Look at all that texture smoothing and the excellent frame rate. Nobody's made out of visible triangles.

Re: Atari 2600 40th Anniversary

We couldn't afford an Atari 2600 when they were new. Or even when the NES launched. But by the end of the 80's, they were finally cheap enough for poor children to own them too. There's no feeling today that can match the alien sensation of watching an old television's analog snow fade away for a cr...

Re: Dogfighting games?

What you're doing now, is how you'd approach an early 3d arcade game. Dogfighting requires a bit more skill. The idea is to think of it as a dance. If you anticipate where your enemy is going, you can follow them all the way, or even cut them off. Also, if you have any kind of missiles, they're gene...

Re: Street Fighter II getting special anniversary cartridge

And I thought they were lazy with Akuma, Dan, Sean, "Evil Ryu", and "Violent Ken".

"Hey, if Nintendo can re-release All-Stars for Mario's anniversary, why can't we get in on this cash grab? Let's add 2 rare variant colors, just to piss off collectors."

Re: Anyone hyped for Samus Returns

Less hyped, more worried. It's a collaboration between the people who made Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, and the man who wrote the plot to Other M. If they bring their usual issues to the table, Nintendo will have all the ammunition they need to claim that 2d Metroid games are no lo...

Re: Atari Video music

Ironically, the sequel would also be the last of the original Atari's hardware.

Thank you, Critic.

Apologies, if this is asking too much, but could there be a similar clean-up for the King of Fighters series? Apparently, some readers felt a mediocre series (edit: it's really damn good) was dramatically improved by the addition of load times.

Maybe there should be a troll icon for hijacked reader reviews? Some people use this site as a buying guide, with the reader reviews looking like a serious second opinion.

They can't all afford to just throw their money away.

Re: Nokia N-Gage/Tapwave Zodiacs it the Sega 32X/3DO/Atari Jaguar of portable gaming?

Using 640x480 screens as your basic 3d building block, with a cpu that slow? The 3DO was badly designed. Can't even manage basic 2d scrolling without stutter? The 3DO was badly designed. One joystick port? A five button controller? The 3DO was badly designed. A $700 launch with no killer app? The ha...

Re: Games that killed/ruined the genres Reception in certain regions/consoles/gave negative stigmas, etc?

Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy were the 2 most high profile JRPGs released in the west, yes. They weren't the only ones, or even the first to reach America, as any Sega fan will be happy to tell you. Besides - Once there were enough decent ones available on Nintendo platforms as well, the worry th...
