I may be a N64 diehard, but even I have to admit the Snes was possibly better when it came to audio, music in particular. Most of the early games had repetitive loops in addition.
Much like the Genesis, the N64 was never really considered to be an audio powerhouse in the video game industry, but overtime, developers got creative and pushed the N64 hardware to its limits, sometimes past it, and helped create some of the best video game soundtracks of all time.
So I ask you guys, what were the best soundtracks from the N64, and the best track from the game? Here's some of my favorites
Super Mario 64 (Dire Dire Docks)
Mario Kart 64 (Toad's Turnpike)
Star Fox 64 (Aquas)
Goldeneye 007 (Severnaya 2)
Banjo Kazooie (Click Clock Wood-Spring) (Dynamic soundtrack was very innovative)
F-Zero X (Big Blue)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Inside the Deku Tree)
Jet Force Gemini (SS Anibus) (Amazing soundtrack that pushed the N64's limits)
Pokemon Snap (Cave)
Super Smash Bros (Break the Targets/Board the Platforms/Race to the Finish)
Kirby 64 (Ruins)
Banjo Tooie (Witchyworld)
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Astral Observatory)
Paper Mario (Bowser's Castle) (Seriously, check it out)
Pokemon Stadium 2 (Pokemon Select)
Mario Party 3 (Star Lift)
Way more, but these are some of my most nostalgic and excellent choices.

Best N64 soundtracks?
There's only one N64 soundtrack that sticks out in my mind and that's Ocarina of Time. The song in particular is Gerudo Valley.

Agreed on the Paper Mario Bowser tracks. I'm always sure to crank my gaming stereo up when it comes on.

I love it, but some people don't notice that all four areas (not counting the township and the side areas) are basically the same music... just changed slightly to meet the mood of the area.
