Sega Visions

Postby VideoGameCritic » July 4th, 2015, 9:12 am

I purchased a stack of old Sega Vision magazines off Ebay, and they are entertaining. If the magazine was trying to get you psyched about Sega games, it worked.

I love the innocence of some of the letters. For example:

Yo Sega!
I noticed you are coming out with Sonic 2, and I have a few questions.
1. Are the graphics going to be as good as, or better than the first?
2. Will the bosses be cooler?
3. Will the basic game be the same or different?
4. What's the deal with the two-tailed fox?
Please answer at least two of my questions.

Funny how he only requires two questions to be answered. I think even a non-video game person could answer the first three.

Yes, I know some people love to hate on this magazine for some reason, but it seems pretty interesting(one issue actually had a game on the front cover that never got released- that game being Penn and Teller: Smoke and Mirrors for the Sega CD, though you can still get reproduction copies of it).

That sounds neat, what years are the mags?? Thinking back to the Sega days, I only knew a very small number of people who owned that console. Sonic seemed to be everywhere for awhile than poof, nothing.

Wasn't sega visions a free semi monthly mag? That's something we'd never see today.

You're assuming that's a genuine reader letter.

Sega Visions was published from 1990 to 1995.

Game Informer also used to be a free magazine that was given out at stores like Funcoland.
