Are Projectors an option for Classic Gaming?

The forum has often talked about things like get the best quality video out of older systems in an HDTV world. One possible solution is to skip televisions altogether, and use a projected image.
While on vacation, a bar was showing a sporting event on the side of a blank wall. It was awesome. I was thinking - what would Pac Man look like on the side of my house? I also have a room in my house originally designed for a projector for movies, but HDTV technology really put that idea down. However, it could be a decent game room, with a projector on a large white wall.
Anyone ever tried using a projectors? Inside or outside? What do you think?
