Scotland - I'm a little disappointed that you didn't comment on those DP "Fit For Life" weights in the photo. That's how they looked in 1984.

Once again.........these pics are just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TI was losing a price war to Commodore's VIC-20 at the time in the US. In 1983, TI suffered massive losses and discontinued the TI99/4a. The TI99/4a is not a bad computer relative to the competition, with pitchman Bill Cosby.

When we look at Nintendo and wonder why the WiiU is still so expensive, we can also remember the fate of the TI99/4a and what it did to Texas Instruments.

If I recall, those weights were "add your own sand" weights. I had them. I think everybody did. Inexpensive and pretty durable, being just plastic cases. Helped me learn how much 1 kilogram weighs and gave me something to do while I loaded games from a tape cassette datasette. Plenty of time do some some sets while loading games back then.

I also really dislike the cheaper looking TI99/4a housing in that picture.

Hmmmm...that is bizarre! Didn't live in the Mid-Atlantic in 1985 did you? What is that Donald Duck thing under the tree?

And here is a Pong Christmas. Avoid missing ball for Holiday Joy!

And another TI99 Christmas photo. You can tell from the ceramic christmas tree in the back, not the highball/shot glasses(?). Just let your eyes take in this photo. The curtains, that lamp...this photo is a time capsule.

THAT IS SO STRANGE. I did live in the Mid-Atlantic (Maryland), and I do remember getting a Donald Duck toy that would jump up and down! I think my sister might have taken that photo! That's neat.

A few more old pictures

Starting them young on Atari. Name that game.

Playing Space Harrier W A Y too close to the television. Hey kid, you'll ruin your eyes.

And a Cameo from Captain N and his famous belt buckle. I heard Atari tried the same thing, but the belt buckle built from their controller was...unfortunate.

This is a great thread, that was a lot of fun looking through. Also, now I really want a "Radio Shack TRS-80 Computer Club" t-shirt.

Love this thread and brings back a million great memories from the good old days. Wish I had some photos to share which would include playing the Atari 2600 and hundreds of hours playing the C64.

A few more photos

A little Star Wars fun...and look at all those cords and plugs...and is that a spider tank or something under their television right next to all those plugs....I believe the correct quote is "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Look at the size of that speaker!

And a little Pele playing Pele (from a commercial)

A.L.F. and a NES. Cool.

Was there ever an A.L.F game for the NES back in the day?
