Combat, the first home video game I ever played. This is a great thread by the way.

Absolutely love the first pic by Scotland with the boy in the orange shirt playing a CV. The living room is pure simplicity, much like mine was back in the day. Brought back a ton of video gaming memories. Hard to believe I was playing Pong with my sister at home over 40 years ago.

Luv it. Keep them coming Scotland. My fave pic is the boy playing Speedway on the O2. No wrapped presents left so I'm guessing it's Christmas night. That was me, except it was a 2600.

The Atari 5200 .... definitely not portable. That box is huge.

Forget 1080p, many of us began with the retired black and white television. This looks like a modern photo, but it captures the feel.

An upside down 2600.

Adults gaming, 1978. Notice the tape deck under the nutcracker. Given the controllers, can we narrow down what they are playing? Also notice the norm was sitting on the floor playing the game close to the console.

Finally, the peak of fashion, Barbie, relaxes with some Intelligent Television herself.

Due to the brightness of the label of the game, not to mention the paddles, and the fact that only one is holding the controller, I will assume they are playing Blackjack.

Looks like the dog on the Atari 5200 picture just had a go with the 5200 controller!

Looks like a modern photo, but I actually remember playing Pac Man on a TRS 80. You can talk about 4k video gaming, but back in the day we didn't even have 4 colors! Green monochrome for the win.

Getting caught playing Pac Man at school was an issue. Many schools had Tandy or Apple computers to teach us BASIC (because we thought the future was going to be all about programming), and games were verboten....but as Dr Malcolm would say, kids will find a way. I know I did.

I looked for a photo of someone playing The Oregon Trail, the most famous educational game ever. I can't find one of someone playing it, just images of the game. My quest has died of dysentary.

Here is an image from another time Americans were choosing between Red and Blue, but it was Gyromite with R.O.B.
