Jaguar Interactive Multimedia System -- JIMS ?

I like the back of this box. Controller, console, screen shots, and some information. Notice how small the Atari logo is. Also 'Manufactured in the USA by IBM'. "An expandable future you'll never outgrow" - well, that one didn't work out so well.

All in all, I'm liking how Atari did boxes.

I miss how the old console boxes in the 90s would list specifications. Sega boasting about how the Genesis had a 68000 processor, as if any gamer besides nerds and geeks would know what that was.

Going even further with the Saturn by listing the complete specifications on the bottom of the box.

Nintendo, notorious in recent years for leaving out spec details even advertising how the N64 ran at an "awesome 94 MHz."

Really liked the Grandstand PC-50X, never saw that one.

Agree about the diversity of imagery on the Atari box - tremendously intriguing. Made me want to buy it.

Good point about the crossover where the Atari says computer instead of videogame system on the box - here is a book I loved in the 80's with similar crossover - the screenshots on it's cover meant your computer could be a videogame system:

The games were great but course they looked nothing like the screenshots and didn't compare to contemporary console games.

The book Art of Atari by Tim Lapetino is full of fantastic visuals like on this thread, I think everyone here would enjoy it.

I've been building an online Atari box where you can play the video game icons using a mix of screenshots, game covers and imagery (linked in my signature) inspired by the books and the online Atari emulator.
