Turbografx RF vs Composite Video

Postby scotland » April 5th, 2017, 8:29 pm

I know its hard to tell with taking photos of a CRT and putting them together, but here you can get an idea of a comparison a TurboGrafx-16 with its native RF vs no-mod composite video.

The TG-16 comes out of the box only RF ready, but the pinouts are on the back on the expansion port for composite video and stereo audio out. In this way, its 'native' composite out, in that unlike other mods, you are not adding any hardware, or even disabling the RF. I've done the mod, but my results were amateurish, so I replaced it with a hobbyist made connector. I know there are other mods for the TG-16, and the rare turbobooster, and other models, so results may vary.
