All-in-one systems...

Let's face it, retro games can be a royal pain. Wires everywhere. Input switches. Multiple power strips. Dust. The need to keep some junky CRT around because many of these systems look terrible on a modern TV. Wife complaining about the mess. What a hassle!

Now I'm seeing these all-in-one systems that can play every game from multiple consoles. This would be fantastic! No more wires, no more mess!

The thing is, I want something that looks good on a modern TV. What are your thoughts on this?

It would be nice to have an all--in-one perfect system with HDMI support. Usually there are sound problems or lack of controller support. Do light gun/phazers even work on a modern television? Some games will not load fully because of extra chips in the cart.

Ones view of perfect is different from another.

For me a perfect all-in-one system would play my O2, Intelly, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Sega Master, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, 3DO, TG-16, Playstation, PSII. I have an Action Max and Vectrex. The Action Max needs a VCR hook-up and the Vectrex has its own screen. Add in my Commodore Vic-20, C64 and an Atari 8-bit computer plus handhelds cart based systems. :D

There are systems I will probably never own so It would be great to have those added as well but can't see it happening on that grand a scale.

Maybe a generation retro all-in-one system. One system for each generation. Still would be a lot to ask.
