There was a target shooting game used by the US military, on the SNES. It was never commercially released. Its called MACS, and uses a light gun version of a full weight M16 for infantry training. The blog says its rare not due to low numbers like a prototype, but that they were not sold off to military surplus stores but likely destroyed.

Very interesting. I didn't expect to see the Sculptured Software name on that cartridge. Strange that they would use a console for this instead of a computer, especially if they were going to build their own light gun.

I'm reminding of Crocodile Dundee - now thats a light gun.

lists not just this SNES game but several others, including the Xbox game "Full Spectrum Warrior". Other games are indeed PC games, not console games.
So, why a SNES game in 1994 and not a Windows PC game? Good question. Security? Standard across training areas? I don't know.
