Boxing Buddy

Postby VideoGameCritic » August 30th, 2017, 10:53 am

The Modern Nostalgia thread just rekindled an old memory. When I used to play Boxing (Atari 2600) with friends I really wanted it to be more realistic, so I would use a piece of construction paper (folded) to cover the scores on top. Then, after the match was over, there was a moment of suspense as we lifted the paper to see who won. Sometimes the results were surprising. We dubbed the device "The Boxing Buddy" and I think I even used it during a Video Game Mania. I was glad to see I made mention of this in my Boxing review. Good game, by the way.

I thought I was the only one, only I've been doing this the last few years when I watched the Bears. Except I'd never remove the paper covering the score. Because seeing the score would usually get me drinking.
