Berzerk 2600 vs All Othersab e

Postby matmico399 » January 11th, 2018, 4:49 pm

I was recently in Huntsville Alabama recently. They have an old timey arcade/bar/eatery. Oddly only 21 and up called Pints and Pixels. No doubt a great name for beer drinking, Wings eating and old time gaming. I walked up to an old Berzerk machine among many others. Dropped my quarter in and began to play. I enjoyed it reliving memories of that old arcade cabinet. But as I progressed I realized I was not having a whole lot of fun. Sure the graphics are better. But. When I came home and gamed on my 2600 tonight I had a blast with it. Still in my top 10 2600 games of all time. It was just much more exciting and classic. Now my question to fellow gamers. Was the 2600 version of Berzerk the best? Over arcade. 7800, etc. There have been so many ports of this classic, but I think Atari nailed it with their 2600 version.

The best version of Berzerk I’ve played is the Atari 5200 version. Tremendous fun plus it retains the arcade voice samples.
Admittedly this was via emulation so I didn’t have to use the 5200 controller. Can you plug Genesis controllers into a 5200 by the way ?
