Nice little 2600 Pickup

Postby matmico399 » February 22nd, 2018, 3:55 pm

As I mentioned earlier in the forums I bought an Atari Flashback 8 (basic model) to keep at my Girlfriends house. I have a 2600 at my place. I was interested in buying a driving controller for Indy 500. Then one member mentioned the Flashback 8 didn’t support the driving controller. So I canceled my EBay order.

I never owned Indy 500 as a kids but a friend in my neighborhood did and I’d borrow it constantly. One of my top 15 games, especially the excellent Ice tracks. So today I go into a retro game store. There are about 3 copies of the game but no driving controller. After looking for about an hour I finally ask the guys behind the counter if they have any 2600 accessories. They say yes but they keep them in a box in back because they take up too much space. Then one warns me they have no paddle controllers though. I told them I was looking for the racing controller for I500. He pulls out the box and there are all kinds of funky joysticks and ONE I500 raceing controller. So I got one of my fave games and the controller for 8.50 exactly. Sweeeeeeeet! :)

Congradulations! Indy 500 is one of the better early 2600 games. Based on Atari's Indy 800 arcade game, I think.

Wish I could play the arcade version; it looks really cool.
