Handheld games on internet archive

Postby scotland » June 23rd, 2018, 10:52 am

You already know the Internet Archive has emulation for lots of software. A few months ago, they unveiled a way to play a few discrete logic handheld games in a browser.

The idea is to preserve much of the look and gameplay of games like Coleco's VFD Ms Pacman unit or a Tiger handheld LCD game. I have a substantial collection of old handhelds, so this idea caught my eye.

The units may have been destroyed in the process of replicating how they worked. The circuits had to be inspected and software versions created. (So I would call this simulation, not emulation, but a rose by any other name)
