I've been wanting to dig my Dreamcast out of my parent's basement to play Bangai-O again, but the thing resets randomly while playing.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've heard its something to do with the controller ports. Or unscrewing the Dreamcast and twiddling something. Anyway, I know its easily fixable. However, my Dreamcast has suffered from this on occasion but has simply been fixed by hitting the console (I know! Bad behaviour on my part, but it has worked)

The issue Julio mentions is unrelated, where third party controllers cause a resistor in the controller port to blow.
You are suffering from the internal reset problem. It's caused by a lot of use over time causing the motherboard connector pins to bend away from their contacts. It's easily fixable, I've had to fix mine twice now:
