It's been out for several years. It's very comfortable, and the perfect controller for playing Game Boy titles on the Game Boy Player, Game Cube titles such as Mega Man X Collection, Zelda Collectors Edition, and Sonic Gems Collection.

Only way I'll play those games, the normal Game Cube controller is inferior in many ways to the competition, especially when the d pad is concerned. It's a 3rd party accessory from Hori which is available in black and also blue, is available primarily from importing, and is licensed by Nintendo.

Can't go wrong with it if you own a Game Cube and play non 3d games on it.
