Good Xbox One games?

Postby VideoGameCritic » March 17th, 2014, 1:53 pm

So as the months go by I'm getting the itch to get an Xbox One.

I don't really know of many good games off hand, but that might be because I haven't been paying close enough attention.  I heard Forza was good, and I'd like to pick up Call of Duty Ghosts for the system.

I know about Titanfall but not too keen on Xbox Live at this time (subscription ran out).

Any other interesting games I should consider?

I would definitely recommend Garden Warfare Pants vs Zombies fun addicting game. A first first person shooter with cartoon type characters and plenty of characters and weapons to unlock and at this time there is nothing purchase needed to unlock anything. I havent played my Xbox One since launch with Forza but when this came out a few weeks ago I can stop playing, I have to say I like it better than COD and Titanfall.

Dead Rising 3 sounds pretty good, your main complaint about the first two games was their limited save system, DR3(and DR2L Off The Record) rectifies that as now you can save anytime you want.  You also have many more weapon combinations and you can create them instantly if you have the appropriate items without having to go a special room to do so, and escorting survivors is also reportedly much easier as there A.I. is much better and they can fight well alongside you, so you might want to maybe check that one out.

Ghosts is a pretty good COD game, it's not quite as good the Modern Warfare series, but it still follows the tried and true COD formula pretty well and has some stand out moments.  Like when you get into a shoot-out in outer space while flying in zero-g.

Have you checked out the new Strider game?  It's also available on various systems but it's one I can certainly recommend.

Most critics tended to hate Ryse but it's not that bad.  It's kind of like a Beat 'Em Up with you having to defend and then attack.  There's a rhythm to it that's pretty cool when you get into the zone.  You might actually enjoy it.

There's not a lot of talking going on and once you get used to the controls it's satisfying finishing multiple enemies at once.

Are you sure about this?  One review on Amazon talks about the local coop play.

I think you should try Ryse: Son of Rome. Not because it's a good game, but because it's actually Xbox One exclusive - unlike many other games mentioned here, that you can play on your Xbox 360. Also, it shows the graphical potential of the Xbox One.

Ryse Son of Rome was incredible, I enjoyed it as much the second play through.

Dead Rising 3 was a blast as well.

Besides Ryse: Son of Rome you maybe also could consider Crimson Dragon (reviews aren't good for this one, but at least it's a true Xbox One exclusive, like Ryse. Also it's a 'spiritual successor' to Panzer Dragoon, so something has to be good about it, right?).
