"Morning After" impressions of the Wii U

Paul's tablet comments are interesting.

If seems Nintendo had the right idea, but maybe didn't take the concept far enough.

"Morning After" impressions of the Wii U

Postby scotland171 » November 6th, 2013, 12:08 pm

One year later...
I enjoyed this thread that Paul123 created on first getting his console. I also remembered Atarifever's lament that discussing a console often led to denigrating another, although thoughtful comparisons seem valid and even necessary (the key word being thoughtful). To Paul and others with the WiiU, how do you like it now? Did you get used to some issues noted like the limited range of the tablet controller? Did being wireless only ever become an issue? Do you wish you had waited a year to buy, or maybe regret the purchase? To whom would you recommend a WiiU? Did you come to WiiU gaming from the Wii, or from multiple consoles? How many games have you bought?

Question: any improvements on the gamepad's range. I'm looking to get a Wii U, but I'd like to be able to use the game pad in another room sometimes.

Mine can handle one wall for a fair distance. Two though and it quickly becomes unreliable or completely dead.

That means that I can go 5' out the door of the room it's setup in and turn the 90 degree corner in my hallway and quickly lose the connection once multiple walls are between me and the console, even though it's only about 7' from the console itself to where I'll drop the signal.

But I can then circle around my living room and into the kitchen and stand near my laundry room doorway and have just one wall again between me and the room with my Wii U, and have it work again even though the console is probably 15-20' away at this point, with a single wall between me and the system.

It all depends on your circumstances. It won't work at an opposite end of the house, but in an adjacent room, you stand a decent chance of getting a reliable signal.
