They also can't run Windows software, which increases the cost of switching over.
This is simply false. You've been able to dual-boot a Mac since 2006 when they switched over to Intel.

Well you can use a keyboard with certain tablets, but there are still certain things where it's awkward to use a touch screen on instead of a mouse.
and took my new Compaq home with a copy of XP (wasn't pre-installed).
Dude, a Compaq?  That's your problem.  And buying it without it being pre-installed.  That most likely means it wasn't compatible to begin with or they would have shipped it with the OS installed.

But, really, you bought a Compaq?

At least it wasn't a Packard Bell.  My computer was cusotm built by a nearby repair shop and came with XP Media Center 2005 edition.

That wasn't the only XP I've used. When the folks I was living with were short on cash they had an XP. It was a Dell. It worked just as badly. And yes, I bought a Compaq. And the Dell is still there as well. But the post you are referring to (I looked back at it, the "reference" was unintended) should have the reference removed. I was just proving that Windows 2000 was SUPER stable. I've never crashed Windows 2000. EVER. I've crashed XP numerous times. XP was a disaster. Microsoft made 2 mistakes in a row.......ME and XP. At least Vista was somewhat respectable!

Josh, Vista wasn't great, but it blew XP out of the water. XP had too many errors. The vulnerability was tremendous. Microsoft is lucky to have Windows 7, because it is the superior OS in the current time.

Probably because I waited for Service Pack 2 Josh. XP in any form is awful. Now 2000 was great, near impossible to crash. In todays industry, you should use 7, as Windows 7 is ALMOST as good as 2000 was.

No it's not, XP works very well for me, it never crashed once on me.  Never used 2000, my fmaily went straight from 98 to XP.  7 is OK, but i'm more used to XP at the moment.
