Stuck in Pikmin 3

Wow, my daughter and I play this together, and we have done everything we can and we are stuck for two days. This game is difficult to track your progress, since you can spend your days gathering fruit so you don't starve and then you forget what the hell you were supposed to do. I have run around the three maps I have access to without the Pikmin and cannot figure out the next step. Kind of odd. Nintendo normally holds your hand and that bothers me... but now.................... I'd like a friendly hint, fellas

hehe, the same thing happened to me as well. Yeah, I gave up too. It was a lot of fun while I was making good progress, but I too hit a wall. Sorry, my post is no help either.
