Where did he go?

I guess I shouldn't make fun that he was permanently banned for, well, being steer.

Steer's opinion here would be interesting. Nintendo makes mobile gaming respectable, or something like that.

Even if the game is a fad, many AAA games are basically fads too. Today its Overwatch, then Madden, etc.

Game is even on sites geared toward my professional life, Zombies in the office, and the impact of Pokemon Go on the generational divides in the workspace, etc.

Other articles are concerned that the succes of PG will see a move of more developers to mobile. I can see companies like Sega basically being all mobile. The best scenario would be a major smartphone manufacturer, like Samsung, making a modern Gamer phone.

Dang, permanent-banned? I can't imagine how you earn that one a video game site.

My wife, who is not a gamer, is playing it. She went to the park and told me she saw at least 10 people walking around chasing Pokemon.

I hate to say this, but I think this is the dumbest idea EVER. Just me though. I already think people are far too emerged in their phones, and this makes it worse. Down in Burlington I noticed TONS of people running around on their phones chasing the damn things. All looking for the Pokestop. Meanwhile people are waiting at these pokestops to gank players coming by.

Personally, I kinda liked Steer and it's too bad he's been banned.

Don't get me wrong, we've gotten into it more than once over the years, but he never really attacked people personally. Yeah he could be a one-trick pony with his Nintendo love, but I felt that he was a pretty decent person. Bummer he's not still around.

As for Pokemon Go, this, like every other fad, will run its course. And you can take what I say to the bank, as I thought the movie 'The Titanic' would bomb.

I haven't really been gaming much lately; for some reason it hasn't been appealing to me and I've been reading more instead. But my wife and I decided to download this after all the hype and we love it. It has a ton of bugs and it's a very shallow game but it is a game you play by exercising out in the real world, which is a welcome change. We went out to the city park at 9PM on Saturday to catch Pokemon and there were dozens of other people doing the same.

I ran 5 miles the other day just because I was having fun seeing what landmarks were pokestops in my town. And I hate jogging. I haven't run 5 miles in one go for about 10 years. So I'm sure plenty of real gamers will hate on it but how many game get you in better shape?

I kindof agree with Actraiser about the strangeness of a game being so commonplace... but this is very similar to the hype the Wii enjoyed at its release, and we endured that. ;)

And I think the release of the Wii is an interesting comparison. Everyone else immediately played copycat with some kind of motion control, just to get a piece of the pie, and now I think motion controls have somewhat run their course.

It's very interesting to read about their assumptions about the game compared to what actually happened. They really didn't expect much at all. I think the game is buggy both because of server overload and a lack of perceived need for perfection, for a game they didn't think would be played this much.

It will be VERY interesting to see how Nintendo, and others, ride this wave.

Wow, went to the plaza in KC tonight. Tons of people were playing the game. 4 pokestops were clustered together and people had put up lures (things that make more pokemon appear for everyone by the pokestop) on all of them. There were clusters of people just sitting around by the fountains playing the game. And this is 9:30 on a Wednesday night.

Nintendo's stock took off like a Saturn V after the Pokemon Go phenomenon took off, but are now dropping like Skylab. Investors finally realized Nintendo only owns a minority stake in the game. Nintendo stock is still way up, like 60% up, from before this, but fell 18% in one day, and that was cut off as the limit, so it may continue to fall as a correction.

Pokemon Go, outside of direct revenue, should help Nintendo by giving the Pokemon franchise, merchandise and future more traditional games a nice boost. However, it seems like the game's developer, San Francisco California based Niantic, which was spun off from Google less than a year ago, made a good deal, and will reap a huge harvest.
