Dark Souls Remastered

Postby DaHeckIzDat » January 11th, 2018, 10:14 am

I know you're all probably tired of hearing me rave about Dark Souls lately, but I can't help it! FromSoftware just announced that they will be releasing a remastered version of the first Dark Souls on PS4, XBone, and Switch on May 25th. And I am just fine with that!

I know that it is a remaster of an older game, but this is the game that makes my purchase of a Switch 100% justified (goodbye, buyer's remorse). It's in my top ten favorite games of the past ten years, and having it on the go has been something that I have wanted since I first bought a Vita! Such an amazing game! Now, if they could somehow find a way to port DS2 and (very unlikely) DS3 to Switch, I can die a happy man!

Your constant raving of this series is peaking my interest :D

Is Bloodborne a good place to start ? Or should I wait for the remaster ?

Also, they announced SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, and The World Ends with You: Final Remix talk about impresive announcments along with Dark Souls Remastered making this proof that 3rd party is back to Nintendo!

I wouldn't recommend starting with Bloodborne. It takes the concept of a Souls game, but then takes away your shield so that you're forced to play aggressively. I recommend starting with Dark Souls so that you have options. Defensive or offensive.

I'll stick to the ps4. I've found I prefer that controller even to the ps3's

He had just peaked my interest with the other post as well, and along comes a Switch version right on cue. I think that's where I finally bite. The big screen for the art direction everyone raves about, and the small screen for grinding and playing "one last try" before bed. Sounds like a game made for the Switch.

Will be fun to go through this again. Now if they would just update demon souls!

Count me as another who's interest is piqued by all this Dark Souls talk. I don't think I'll have the patience or pain-tolerance for it, but I do plan to give it a shot. I have the 360 version ready to go, whenever I find a good weekend day to try it out.
