When will companies learn?

This morning, Sega made a few announcements that were exciting (Shenmue I and 2 HD, Mega Drive Mini), but one announcement was just annoying: Sega Classics for Switch. Four weeks after the announcement of the PS4 and Xbox One Collection, Sega reveals that Switch willl be getting 15 of their 8/16-bit games, but sold separately! I would have gladly paid $40-50 for the collection of 50 games, but I refuse to pay what amounts to a second class citizen fee. Is there a reason why Sega would do this. Profit? If that was the sole reason, why wouldn’t the individual titles also be released for other platforms in lieu of a collection?

Once I heard that M2 was involved here, this is the aspect of their news that most excited me. M2 does amazing things. Take Outrun on the 3DS for example. Instead of settling for basic emulation, they went all out. Here are some highlights that come to mind.

-30 fps doubled to 60 fps (Granted, this also happened on the Saturn, but this time the sense of speed stayed intact).

-Hydraulic cockpit mode with tilting and even the sounds of the original hydraulic mechanism that M2 went out to a cockpit Outrun cabinet to record. Not very practical on the 3DS, but the extra effort still impresses.

-2 brand new songs in the style of the old ones, running on the same sound hardware.

-Impressive 3d effect that apparently was one of the system's best.

-Outrun was converted from 4:3 to true widescreen, with no zooming/cropping.

I'm looking forward to some of Sega's Super Scaler arcade games coming to the Switch. That was the one problem with Sega's 3D Classics line on the 3DS. You were limited to playing on the small screen. Seeing it hopefully be rectified here via this program is exciting.

And hopefully Turbo Outrun stops being a Japanese exclusive this time around (Sega never released the last batch of 3D Classics releases outside of Japan), along with some new arcade games that M2 hasn't gotten a crack at yet on the PS2 and then the 3DS.

Please tackle Outrunners, Sega/M2.

I agree, companies make no sense on the Nintendo Switch and some examples are as followed.

Shenmue I and 2 HD not coming to the Nintendo Switch despite both games are old Sega Dreamcast titles.

Capcom has yet to release The Disney Afternoon Collection on the Switch or even give it a physical release despite other modern Capcom retro collections have made their why to the Switch save for DMC HD collection and all have physical versions day and date or later release like the first Mega Man Legacy Collection case.

A Hat in Time dev is refusing to port the game on the Nintendo Switch: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/0 ... nto_switch despite the system having success of porting Unreal Engine 3 games thanks to Rocket League and the Outlast series getting ported no problems!

And recently the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy is not coming to the Nintendo Switch or even PC for that matter despite Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy coming to both the Nintendo Switch and PC day and date with Xbox One after the PS4 exclusivity expired.

Man, I hate how 3rd parties treat the Nintendo Switch like a second class citizen makes me wish people will speak out to the companies to get the games we want on the console.

Also bad news, the upcoming Mega Drive Mini is being done by the infamous AtGames who is not to be trusted.: https://mynintendonews.com/2018/04/15/a ... oved-tech/

Gain Ground and Alex Kidd in Miracle World have now been announced.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/0 ... mes_coming

The former is the arcade version, which will be a first time appearance for it in arcade perfect form (Or knowing M2, better than arcade-perfect form). Not so sure Gain Ground will excite us westerners, but it does confirm that arcade games are part of this project. Now just give me Turbo Outrun on my Switch, Sega.

And by the way, they've confirmed that the Saturn and the Dreamcast won't be ignored with M2's latest Sega Ages effort on the Switch. Maybe that will stir some excitement around here among those of us that are less familiar with M2, that don't understand that the effort they invest is worth a premium price.

People went crazy over Nintendo's "Virtual Console" and happily plopped down $4-$12 for classic 8/16 bit games. Sega announced these games will include new "extra's" so it not just basic ROM dump. So my question is why all the hate? We have seen all these games included on countless collections already without any extra's so what would be the point in making yet another collection without any extra's?

Any way you slice it you will still be getting a classic game for very cheap and this time with new content.
