Wii in Japan

Postby BanjoPickles1 » February 26th, 2009, 8:09 pm

Here's some food for thought. There's been in a little bit of a fuss over the Wii in Japan. It seems, over the past several weeks, the Wii market has started to dry up while the PS3 is picking up steam. This week, the 360 spent it's second week ever there at number one, due to the release of Star Ocean.

Do you guys think that the Wii is slowly running out of gas over there? I just wanted to get some different opinions on the matter.

Myself, I think it's just slowing down for the moment. I think the moment you'll see Wii sales EXPLODE again is when Monster Hunter Tri and the Monster Hunter G remake arrive. Also, depending on WHEN Dragon Quest X comes out, that'll be another huge seller over there. I think the Wii may have a few more gaps this year than they've had in the past over there, but I think some analysts are making too big of a deal over it. It still averages abou 80,000 per-month there which isn't bad at all.

You are part right.

The wii is decling, but no one else is rising up. Ps3 is more or less flat, and 360 is bumping a little, but that aint going to last.

And the DS market is probably so saturated DSi might not do much either. MAybe its like the housing market in the US, lol?

Too many PS2 and DS's sold, they are content.

  • PSP - 29,552
  • Xbox 360 - 25,334
  • Wii - 16,973
  • PlayStation 3 - 16,149
  • Nintendo DS Lite - 9,975
  • PlayStation 2 - 5,029
