Cruisin' (Wii)
A reader told me I would like this bargain-bin title, and he was right! This is pure arcade racing, and a direct descendant of San Francisco Rush. The game is sloppy but undeniably fun. The digitized babes are a nice bonus.

The Cruisn' series made it past the N64 iterations? Didn't know that!

Not really, this is the arcade game The Fast & the Furious with the movie tie-in eliminated for the Nintendo Wii.

is it really? I will have to add this to my watch out for list then because I like the arcade game a lot. I have never even heard of this game.

Yep it is.
And both the Cruis'n series and this contain similar gameplay and Eugene Jarvis, so I suppose the rename isn't too much of a stretch. Fits in well with the series even if it started out with a different branding.

Yeah I had read that but I think this Wii game looks a lot different from the arcade game.

I've seen the arcade game but never played it so I've just been repeating what I've read elsewhere.
But comparing YouTube shots of the arcade game with the Wii game running here, I believe the only difference of significance outside of the name itself are the console specific menus. And of course the arcade game seems to look nicer although it's hard to judge with these off screen recordings of the arcade game.
This is a significantly better game than people gave it credit for. I just wish it had Classic Controller or GameCube controller support though.

I had to give this a try, and turns out it's not too bad. Definitely worth $10 or less if you see it in the bargain bin, and I agree it would be better with more traditional controls.
Oh, and I also figured out a minor trick...if you tap the gas button twice, the car will do a wheelie. You can use this to launch over other cars in front of you and do a "car vault" which can often prevent a crash. I also managed to get the car on 2 wheels occasionally but I'm not sure how I pulled that off. It only seemed to happen in turns.
