I love this game, but I do agree the dungeons can be very frustrating. This game has a very melancholy atmosphere, but in a good way, especially the music. I love the masks and the abilities, and the best designed 3-d overworld in a Zelda game. One other flaw, when you swin in the ocean as the Zora, they spawn enemies in front of you constantly, so you cannot go in a straight line!!  But the Zora swimming is fantastic, for the stages they build for it. This game is a good argument for the reuse assets sequel game - very similar to Mario Galaxy 2 - all the parts have been built, spend your time rearranging them and expanding on them, get an excellent game out 'fast'.

Should this game have gotten the HD remake??? - Maybe it is in the works for 3DS....

It's more of an acquired taste and is a lot more ambitious than Ocarina of Time. And that's part of why I love it.

The missions are confusing at first, but once you figure things out, it's a blast. The dungeons and side quests are more interesting, the secrets are better, and I really love saving my rupees in a bank.Yes FAQ's largely helped, and yes the save system is BRUTAL (though repeated playthroughs will give you shortcuts), but overall I prefer this to Ocarina due its creativity and that for some reason I just find it more fun.

And for a direct OOT sequel, it was pretty innovative for its time as well.
There are several parts about the Deku section that are aggravating but I think it was the 3rd temple that finally made me quit. I did something out of sequence, time was running out, and I thought, "I'm not going to do all this crap again. This is not fun." I just don't like doing stuff over and over again - especially when it's not that fun to begin with. I understand why some would enjoy the game but I didn't.
I remember that being the case with the Kafei and Anju sidequest:

***SPOILER***

The one where you're trying to get those two lovers back together before the world comes to an end. The quest takes place over several parts of the three days, from the beginning to the end, covering those three days pretty much completely. There's a part in Sakon's hideout towards the end of the quest where getting your timing wrong will force you to do the whole thing over again. However, I think that quest is really worth it. Even though it's cartoony and a bit weird, I loved seeing these two lovebirds reuinted and bravely facing the "end of the world" together.

Now that I've finished Super Metroid again after downloading it on that 30 cent deal for Wii VC, I'm ready to play something else.  I wasn't sure what it would be, but this thread has inpired me to make it Majora's Mask.

Majora's Mask (MM) is one of those games that had to grow on me. When I first played MM, I was let down by it. My first Zelda game was Ocarina of Time (OoT), and it was generally more accessible to me since it didn't take to long to get somewhere. MM forced me to wander around a boring town, not slashing enemies with a sword, but, rather, playing hide and seek with a bunch of bratty kids. Keep in mind that I was a little kid when I first played MM, and, since I had a difficult time figuring out what to do, I kept dying due to getting crushed by the moon. Although I did get past that first part eventually, I still hated the three day cycle, because I'm one of those gamers that likes to take my time with adventure games. Of course I am now aware of the Inverse Song of Time, which slows time, but I sure didn't know of it back then.

Today, however, I appreciate MM more than I did in the past. First of all, the overworld is a major improvement over the overworld in OoT. MM's overworld has enemies and environments that are different from the dull and grassy plains of OoT's overworld. I am no longer stressed out about the three day cycle either, because the Inverse Song of Time allows two hours in real life to pass without the second night passing.

Whether or not MM is truly the best Zelda game out there is still up in the air for me, but I can see why some gamers would have MM as their favorite Zelda game.
I started playing this game again and have gotten to Great Bay Temple...man is this game tedious. I don't think I've played a Zelda game that didn't make me want to throw my controller against the wall at some point, but this game is a cut above. I've never finished the game. I first played it a couple years ago and quit at about the same spot, and I think it's all the fetch quests. For example, (spoilers?) getting the seven Zora eggs. I only have two bottles, so I had to make four freaking trips to drop off all the eggs.

Another source of frustration was getting my sword upgraded at Mountain Town. First, I tried upgrading on day two after I finished Snowhead. I payed the money, got the powder keg and blew up the boulder to get to the goron race, won the gold dust, then went back to the blacksmith to make the upgrade permanent. Nope, didn't have enough time because the gold dust takes another full day. So I reset the time, and warped back to Mountain Town. Because everything reset and it was still frozen, meaning I couldn't get the powder keg to blow up the boulder and win the race. I warped to Snowhead and beat the boss, again. I talked to the powder keg guy and he didn't offer a free powder keg and charged 100 rupees. I had no rupees because I restarted on day one, so I had to warp back to Clock Town's bank to pull out the money. Then I had to re-do blowing up the boulder and winning the race. I was about to lose it.

I hate complaining about the core idea of the game, because it's so unique and breaks the Zelda formula. There's no logical way around it either, because it makes sense that when time is reset your actions are too, but it does lead to a lot of tedious fetch quests.
I have very similar opinions to you. I actually just got to the Zora Egg fetching the other day, and, while I think the Pirates Fortress is cool, I did not enjoy having to take multiple trips to bring the eggs back. I actually have three empty bottles (I got one from those beavers on top of the waterfall in Great Bay), and even then I got tired of it. After I've played for a long time and got bored (I could only find four eggs, and I don't know where the other three eggs are) I had to go back in time to save and lose my progress! This has got to be the only game I have ever played where saving causes me to lose progress instead of keeping my progress!

And yes, I am well aware that the owl statues let me save my progress without going back in time. Unfortunately, they only allow for quick saves! I think I'm going to make a thread on my hatred for that feature later today!

This game bums me out every time I play it. Everyone is in distress, and the Oath to Order is the most depressing song I've ever heard in my life.
