Masked Rider (Sega CD)

Postby scotland171 » February 27th, 2015, 10:38 pm

Just playing around while working on the hardware tonight, and enjoyed a bit of this Dragons Lair'ish game.

I think this game merits a few icons. A skull for scary in tapping fears that a kid walking home is set on by an adult predator, and can end up being throttled to death in a parking garage, all in full motion video. A TV icon is appropriate as this is a based on a tv show, related to Power Ranger and Kamen Rider (and the same company made beetleborgs). There is no Bug Eyed Monster icon, but its got those.

Daves review talks about elements of the Matrix, but the game and source material predate the Matrix and the comic series it was inspired by so that a bit anachronistic. The word 'university' is mistakenly capitalized in the review, unless there really is a Standard University awarding doctorates in Standard Mad Doctorism.

Its also a mind twist in that growing up the Masked Rider was a term for the Lone Ranger.

This game also illustrates that an issue that FMV also had to deal with was dubbing, and not just translating text.
