I originally reviewed these two classic side-scrollers back around 2000 when my reviews tended to be short (good) but a little shallow. My new reviews will have a lot more meat.
These are two remarkably addictive shooters, but they can be frustrating. Then I realized if I mashed the first button I could fire a lot faster. Naturally I turned to my Nintendo Advantage joystick and cranked up the turbo. Works great!!

Re: Gradius/Life Force (NES)
I'm good at certain NES games. "Life Force" is definitely not one of them.
I try to play it without using the cheat code and I can't pass the third stage

Re: Gradius/Life Force (NES)
I don't think anything in video games bums me out more than when I'm fully-loaded in Life Force only to get hit from something just before the boss. Oh, and I always use the K-Code.
