2)Combat....BOTW's combat is very basic. Skyrim? Cast magic? Craft weapons? Basically take on any type of combat style you like.
3)Side missions....in BOTW they should have called them "fetch missions" because that is basically all you do. In Skyrim the side missions are much better...join guilds, save people, steal things, become a vampire, etc, etc.
4)Graphics....what is up with the poor draw distance in BOTW?
1. The towns are NOT empty in BOTW, what are you talking about? Any town you go to, there are plenty of people running around doing and saying things. Maybe the streets aren't packed, but that's because BOTW doesn't have any huge cities, just small-ish towns. And you said it yourself, this is a barren, war torn landscape, so it wouldn't make sense for it to have cities anyway.
2. Like ESauce already said, Elder Scrolls' combat is some of the worst I've ever found. It is the textbook definition of button mashing, and the enemies don't even react when you hit them. Not only do you have a ton of variation in weapon types in BOTW, the only game I've found that matches it in terms of weapon realism (how the weapon handles, how it effects your character, etc) is Dark Souls.
3. I won't argue that most of the sidequests in BOTW are boring, but it's not like Skyrim is any different. You just get more talking before the inevitable "Go to X and kill Y to Collect Z."
Towns are not empty in BOTW? There are like 3 or 4 people in each town and a few huts. Give me a break dude. It is unbelievable to me how brainwashed Nintendo fans are. The combat is MUCH better in Skyrim but hey if hitting the "X" button repeatedly is your idea of fun then BOTW is for you. Personally I like more options and casting magic in Skyrim was very cool. I will give you that it is a little clunky but it at least it had variety. I was doing the same type of combat in BOTW the first minute I played until the last.
I really don't want to start a flame war here, but I don't think I'm the brainwashed one. Skyrim combat is literally just flailing your arms in front of you while, like I said, the enemies don't even react if you hit them. It's entirely stat based. A low level character will get spotted right off the bat, but a high level sneaking character can practically stand right in front of enemies without being spotted. Your shield is more of a fashion statement than a useful tool. BotW is about timing, blocking, and dodging all at the right times, using the environment to your advantage, and picking the right weapon for the job-- all of which handle differently. That doesn't even touch on your shieka slate powers or the guardian powers you get after beating the divine beasts. These open up so many doors to do things differently, if you have a little imagination. If you were doing the same thing from beginning to end, that speaks to your own lack of creativity, not anything wrong with the game.
I'm not sure how you think each town has only 3 or 4 people. The first town you find, Kakariko Village, has close to a dozen people, and they all move around and follow their own daily schedules, and the other towns are no different. Make time pass in front of a fire, and the only people who will still be in the same place are the ones who have an important quest for you.
If you like Skyrim better, that's fine. But don't make up crap about BotW to justify it.
