Turrican (Turbografx-16)

Postby VideoGameCritic » February 10th, 2018, 6:52 pm

This looks like another great shooter for the Turbografx, but having some problems with the first stage. There are several areas where rocks start raining from the sky for no particular reason. Since you can't shoot up, it seems like you're forced to take a lot of mandatory damage in these sections. Any advice?

You can shoot up. In the C64 version, you hold the joystick's single button for a rapid-fire shot that you can aim in any direction. I don't know if the controls are the same on the TurboGrafx, but that feature is definitely in the game.

You're referring to the lightning whip. The problem is, while you're holding down the button waiting for it to activate you're getting pelted by rocks! This game is a war of attrition.

It’s been a while but can’t you turn into a metal ball or is it a platforming part ?

Actually the metal ball might help during the rock-raining stage, although there's a pit at the end of it.

Huh. I remember it as being more responsive in the C64 version.
