I could see how the movie had historical significance for horror films but I had a hard time following what was going on. I'm going to stick that one on my shelf and maybe a second viewing in the future might change my opinion....
On a side note, The House of the Devil is an excellent horror film! I was really impressed with this one. It was recommended on several sites so I gave it a go and I wasn't disappointed. I really love the way the film was shot and how the suspense slowly built throughout the film, until the climax hit on the last 15 minutes.
I too want to see Cannibal Holocaust for it's historical significance, but I've heard that it contains real animals being killed on screen. Is that true? That might be a deal-breaker for me.
Just bought a copy of House of the Devil for $2 at a flea market a month ago but I haven't got around to it yet. Glad to hear that it's worth it.
