Time for a plot-building episode.

I'm sure everyone will be talking about the tiger so let's get to that. Personally I hate computer graphics in shows. If that tiger was in a video game I'd love it. In a show with live actors it sticks out like Roger Rabbit. Since my tastes don't usually match with the general public I'll take a guess that most viewers will like the tiger.

I don't like the king much either. He's practical, has common sense and is even tempered. Great attributes for a leader, but boring for us viewers. Perhaps he'll have some dark secrets or sinister motives, but I doubt it. I'm predicting his role is simply to help Rick & the gang escape from Neegan.

So at least we have a potential opponent now for Neegan and his cronies. I'm still waiting for a new character to get me excited. Maybe the king's first knight will be awesome. The guy I'm thinking of is the guy that fought against the obnoxious Neegan guy.

"Swear" is probably the worst episode of this season so far. This season is arguably the worst season as well. Tara, one of my least favorite characters, stars. Her acting skills don't impress, but the directing is weak to not do a better job of covering it up. She stumbles into a beach settlement of just women. Poor decisions by just about everyone. I couldn't wait for this one to end.

I don't like how this series flip-flops to seperate groups or individuals all the time.

Yeah, I really dislike it when the group separates, because I know that means we'll have whole episodes dedicated to "checking in" with the various members. I knew we had a "Tara episode" coming, and it delivered as expected.

Interestingly, after the premiere, ratings have been dropping.

I'm one of those taking a break. I'll probably check back in for the mid-season finale. I've read the comics, I've watched the series from the beginning, I've gone through the Governor and the Prison and the aftermath of the group splitting off and coming back together, and there is a lot of wash rinse repeat.

I see the show as far more 'Post Apocalypse fiction' and not zombie fiction. The setting we have now could be post-plague, post-nuclear war, post-asteroid impact, etc. The zombies seem a lot less important than the violence now, and I'm not into that. I think the drop in ratings (how big of a drop is it?) may be part of that. Plus the whole Glen at the Dumpster, the who does Negan kill cliffhanger that was hyped as not being a cliffhanger, etc has consequences.

Maybe the show should think about going back to Romero or even EC Comics and not Kirkman.
    * What if the zombies evolved a bit? Starting being real packs like the raptors in Jurassic Park (clever girl)
    * What if they started using tools
    * What if zombies did not always acting on instinct. Most animals smarter than fish don't always act on instinct.
    * What if other things besides people were beginning to turn into zombies, like birds or rats? Zombie rats! Imagine that.
    * What if, to stave off decomposition, zombies began a symbiotic union with plant life? Imagine how scary a swamp monster zombie hoard would be? Now that would up the stakes.

I havent even bothered with this season.

From what I have read, the season 7 premier had 17 million viewers and now its down to about 10. Thats a pretty steep drop off considering season 5 was at about 15 million per episode.

Thanks for sharing those stats Rookie. Nothing lasts forever, except maybe the Simpsons. This season is not very good, but I didn't think the last couple of seasons were very good. I'm not sure when I noticed the series losing momentum, but I'm guessing it was right after the conclusion with the Governor. Although I'm still watching I lost a lot of interest after Glen survived the dumpster of death episode. That was a total let down for me.

I love your ideas Scotland. Although I appreciate the simplicity and suspense of the 1st season I also understand that the show has to evolve. I would like more of the horror of the zombies and less survivors, but I realize it's too late for that now. I think this series would've been Better if they had held onto the premise of simply surviving with zombies a bit longer. Then they could've upped the stakes just a little bit at a time with one of your ideas. I like the idea of them being able to use simple tools like a stick or rocks. I wouldn't want them to take it too far like being able to use guns though. That's just too much. Once they had the showdown with the Governor it just seems like they have been creating more showdowns with other tribes. As mentioned before the zombies have become an after thought in the show now and I don't think that's what most viewers want. Remember how scary the zombies were when the show first started? Now zombies are just a nusense.

I've got to agree with everyone regarding this seventh season. I enjoyed the cliffhanger and first episode. Hell I was glad Glen didn't perish in the dumpster episode.
But agreed this seasons hopping around the group has been very dull.
