April Fools Day Pranks?

Postby DaHeckIzDat » April 1st, 2017, 11:55 pm

Today was April 1st! I don't know about the rest of the world, and I'm too lazy to Google it, but here in America that makes it April Fools Day. Anybody pull some good pranks? Anyone get a good one pulled ON THEM? Me, I did two.

First, I like to prank my readers (I write online novels) every year. Usually I write up a spoof chapter that pretends it's following the previous week's chapter, but then veers off into ridiculousness. This year, though, I just ran the entire chapter through a dozen languages on Google Translate. It ended up sounding *kind of* coherent, but still mostly gibberish. The best part was all the confused comments wondering what the heck had gotten into me (to which I responded after translating the comment multiple times).

Secondly, my parents invited me over for dinner. Later, they wanted to watch a movie, and they sent me to Dairy Queen to get some ice cream first. My dad freaking loves DQ. So I drive there, and while I'm waiting in the drive thru I call my dad and say, "Uh, Dad, you're not going to believe this, but the Dairy Queen is ON FIRE!" I tell him the fire department's there trying to put it out, so I'm just going to head back without the ice cream. He swallowed it up hook, line, and sinker, and when I got home (with the ice cream-- APRIL FOOOOLS!) my mom told me he'd been on the verge of tears ever since I hung up.

What about you guys?

I completely forgot it was April the 1st. First thing I knew about it was when the critic got his virtual boy strip poker game out.

In the age of the Internet - where it's a daily game deciphering what's true or not - April Fool's Day doesn't feel so novel. That's why it was so refreshing when the makers of Rick and Morty - the new season of which had been pushed back - released a brand new episode:

What better way to win April Fool's Day than to tell the truth and actually give your fans something that they want - especially since everyone will think it's fake at first anyway? You get to have your cake and eat it, too.
