Voorheisa....how dare you not like a game I LIKE!

Okay, we are all entitled to our opinions. I happen to find the voices entertaining. The only "wish they hadn't" thing I have is the characters constantly shouting when hit "OO" "MAMA MIA!"
"DO' NOH!" ...that is a bit irritating, but I love the opening voices and bosses talking. I guess the designers played GAUNTLET and just felt they had to shout 'ow!"; I also agree the "carnival ferris wheel" adds nothing as it is not challenging, but it doesn't detract either. And too bad they didn't replace the vases with pipes to make it more "mario-ish"....

I still love the game. To answer your question, the ACE coins: you must collect FIVE in each level for a perfect score (I usually ignore them as I don't play for points).

I found the boss voices disturbing.  In fact, every time I faced Birdo or anyone else, it took me completely by surprise (I never got over it, I thought the game froze for a sec).

"I'm too hot to touch"??  Come on.

Humm...did they make this game easier (by adding more hearts I mean), add the voices, and the other big stuff for kids?  I'm just wondering
By the way, what's the point of collecting the big coins in all the levels? (I don't have a manuel).
Get all 5 from each level to... uh... make the title screen red. Yeah. No, seriously.

They added a lot of neat tricks too, though....Like on level 5-2 (I THINK it is 5-2) did you know you can jump on BIRDOS head and pull her bow out!?

Also, beat the game once and try the Yoshi egg challenge!

...ok, one more thing I don't like is that some levels are too long for a mario game. 3-3 is ridiculous, trying to get to the boss requires precision jumping up room after room full of steps-VERY frustraing. And what the heck is that "pointy" blue enemy in the vase on 5-2? Looks like a ROWBOAT for petes sake!

To me it is still an A+ game because I love it, I can't stop playing it, it makes me smile. Signs of a great game!

I faced off against a robot Birdo...please tell me that wasn't in the orginal.

Like I said, this is my favorite 'mario', but I just don't get the point of a lot of the changes.

By the way, isn't it amazing how you can remember warps and other weird tricks after not playing a game for 10 years?

Voor: "I just don't get all the changes"...

Um....you mean, NOT CHANGED ENOUGH! Remember, (or did you not know this) Super Mario 2 was ORIGINALLY a totally different game, THE DREAM FACTORY. That is why there are cherries instead of coins, vases instead of pipes, WART instead of Bowser, etc....

They did change some things obviously, like adding POW blocks and STARMEN and mushrooms. But this is why I LOVE the game, it is so weird and unique for mario. No turtles, flags, castles, etc... I would GUESS though, they WOULD have changed the game more but ran out of time (had to get it out for Xmas!)...

I'm pretty sure Robo-Birdo was in the original. Anyone else recall it wasn't? PRETTY sure.....Mouser and King Cobrat were.
