Sprintmaster/2600
First, a question. Is this a Prequel or Sequal to the arcade SUPER SPRINT / Sprint 500 games? They were Atari coin-ops I think, so this must be related.
As to the grade, I'm sorry but I just don't GET "Full track on the screen" driving games (with the possible exception of DODGE 'EM which is really a maze game). Driving games should SCROLL guys.....like Activisions GRAN PRIX or MONACO GP or TURBO or even INTV AUTO RACING , which I happen to like as a ne player game and wish the INTV LIVES had let one player play it.
Whether you use a pad or stick or wheel, driving a tiny "car" around racetrack crammed into the width of one screen doesn't do it for me. It feels more like an out of control BERZERK more than racing, as you hopelessly try to control the tiny speck of dust around the tracks. Trying to pick up atoms of matter , colored squares that represent wrenches or tires, is tired and gut wrenching to me.
The 2600 SM is even worse with the bugs-for-cars graphics. It sounds like a lead weight going through a blender, although I rarely hear anything besides CRASH CRASH CRASH CRASH CRASH.
Those who love these games.......defend your world! I'm in your personal Space Invader, betcha Asteroids!
