Return of the Typo Thread!

Earnest Evans has an error in it. The review begins with "Earnest Evans wants to Indians Jones". I believe it should read "Earnest Evans wants to be Indiana Jones."

Return of the Typo Thread!

Postby scotland171 » March 7th, 2015, 8:02 am

There is a dangerous link.

In the Sega CD reviews, the website Sega CD Universe is given a hyperlink as a source of some screenshots.   If you visit this site, you will be subject to a fake update attack. I alerted that site's webmaster.  The site also has numerous pop up ads, so I am going to assume they are aware of this and have elected to condone it.

My advice is that since Dave cannot stay on top of what is happening on sites he links to, that this be made into just plain text (if the statement is needed at all).  Possibly the screenshots from this website in particular could be replaced by other sources.

Edit: Heard from webmaster who was not aware of the issue or how to fix it.   Is there a modern equivalent of Caveat Emptor for clicking on links?

Scotland,
Thanks for pointing this out.  In the best interest of my readers I will disable those links, while still crediting Sega CD Universe as a source.
Let me know if you discover any other questionable links.

In the recent "ESPN National Hockey Night" review for the Genesis, at the very end is says "change of place", when the context suggests that it ought to be "change of pace".

*Neither of these games are particularly good should read Neither of these games is particularly good.
*Game play should be Gameplay unless it's misspelled on the box...which is possible.

Sonar Search Channel F
*By making calculated adjustments, you can...
*I believe "While square" should be "White square"

Space War Channel F
*On the surface, it looks....

Spitfire Channel F
*counter intuitive should be counter-intuitive

Tennis/Hockey Channel F
*move up and down, but,in fact, your "forward"...
* paddle has a full range of movement
* collision detection could be better, but the matches...

Tic-Tac-Toe/Shooting Gallery/Doodle Channel F
*Shooting Gallery, and, believe it or not,....
*"drawn" should read "draw"

I hope this is helpful and not annoying. Just trying to help out. :)

I always thought the rules for prepositions were that you did not need to use a comma unless they were a part of a phrase with a verb of some sort thrown in.

Anyways, most of your typos were right on the money. The only ones that I might question are those with a preposition...but that's just me. It's been 20 years since I had an English class. :)

Project Nintendo -
I always appreciate people pointing out typos because by fixing these I make the site better. So don't hesitate.
I applied just about all of the changes except where you suggested adding commas. I like the sentences to flow like I would speak them, so I didn't like the added pauses. I did however agree with the cases where you recommended removing the commas.
Thanks
